It is our pride and policy that for the 18 years that we have been in business, Positive Change Health Center has been totally Green! How this translates is that we use non-toxic, biodegradable cleaners to clean our office every day ~ windows, walls and floors. We use phosphate free, biodegradable laundry detergent for all of our sheets and towels, and all of our therapists and staff use the same for their clothing. We have passed the acid test by having Multiple Chemically Sensitive clients come to the center, "sniff us out", and get the thumbs up! We know that if MCS clients can be in our center, that we are providing the safest possible environment for all of our clients.
As far as the environment is concerned, the products that we use are super concentrated so that there is less packaging that makes it into the landfill - a great concern for us in Indian River County. These products are non-polluting to the earth and water - again so important to protect our aquifer and waterways. All of the product packaging is recyclable and we recycle all of our office papers and printer cartridges.
In fact, we are so committed to the health and wellness of people and the environment, we have started a 200 Household Initiative. It is our vision to enlist 200 homes as well as offices to committ to being green. We've done the math and 200 households or offices in our county can:
- Eliminate an extra 50,000 pounds of greenhouse gases
- Wipe out 21,000 pounds of trash due to product packaging
- Quash water pollution problems originating in homes or offices
- Stifle the 54% increaased cancer death risk rate and other health problems associated with everyday cleaners used in homes and offices
